Boozman Applauds Summer Interns on Service to Arkansas

WASHINGTON -U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-AR) recognized the efforts of students who served Arkansans as interns in his Washington, D.C. and state offices this summer.

"I am proud of these young men and women for their interest in public service and support of our work on behalf of Arkansans. These bright and hardworking interns have helped my staff address issues affecting Natural State residents and have taken advantage of the great opportunities available to them in our nation's capital," Boozman said.

Ella Brewer, Kate Edelen, Hank Herzfeld, Zach Ingle, Luisa Lawson, Henry Oltman, Joseph Osborne, Meredith Pinkston and Elaine Shue completed a five-week internship in Boozman's Washington office. Constituent relations were their primary duty. Additionally, they assisted the legislative and communications teams with various aspects of their work. Each intern was also afforded the chance to shadow the senator, a unique opportunity giving them rare insight into the inner workings of the U.S. Senate.

Masheyat Rahman interned in the senator's Lowell office where she supported state staff in outreach to Arkansans.

Ella Brewer is from Little Rock and graduated in 2021 from Mount St. Mary's Academy. She is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas studying psychology with an agricultural business minor. On campus, Ella is a member of the Pre-Law Society, Chi Omega Psi sorority and Psi Chi. She also studied abroad in South Africa. Upon graduation, Ella plans to attend law school.

Kate Edelen is from Chesterfield, Missouri and graduated from Marquette High School in 2021. She currently attends the University of Arkansas and is majoring in nursing with a general business minor. Kate is a member of the Student Nurses Association and Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

Hank Herzfeld is from Benton and graduated from Benton High School in 2021. He is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in history and political science with minors in medieval and renaissance studies, legal studies and German. On campus, Hank leads the Arkansas Mentorship Program, Quiz Bowl Club and served as a resident assistant for two years. Upon graduation, Hank plans to attend law school.

Zach Ingle is from Farmington. He graduated from Subiaco Academy in 2021. He is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in political science with a minor in legal studies. Zach is a member of Beta Upsilon Chi fraternity. He also studied abroad in Rome where he focused on Italian culture and global studies. Upon graduation, Zach plans to pursue a masters degree in public policy and government.

Luisa Lawson is from Bentonville and graduated from Haas Hall Academy in 2021. She is a rising senior at Saint Louis University majoring in psychology and marketing. On campus, she is a member of the Marketing Club, OASIS and MSA student organizations. She also volunteers at animal shelters in her free time. Upon graduation, Luisa plans to spend a gap year in Brazil before attending law school.

Henry Oltman is from Harrison and graduated from Harrison High School in 2021. He is a rising senior at Columbia University majoring in political science and history. On campus, he is a journalist with the Columbia Sundial and a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Upon graduation, Henry plans to attend law school.

Joseph Osborne is from Wynne and graduated from Wynne High School in 2021. He is a rising senior at Ouachita Baptist University majoring in political science and history. On campus, he is a participant in the Carl Goodson Honors Program, the Ouachita Bands and History Club. He is also a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha and Phi Alpha Theta honors societies. Upon graduation, Joseph plans to attend graduate school.

Meredith Pinkston is from Little Rock and graduated from Little Rock Christian Academy in 2021. She is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas majoring in political science and journalism with a minor in legal studies. On campus, she works at the university's recreation center. She also interns at the Arkansas Health Care Association. Upon graduation, Meredith plans to attend law school.

Elaine Shue is from Fort Smith and graduated from Grace Academy in 2020. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2023 with a degree in criminology and sociology. She is currently a second-year law student at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Elaine is a member of the Animal Legal Defense Fund and is a staff editor of the Arkansas Law Review.

Masheyat Rahman is from Fayetteville and graduated from Haas Hall Academy in 2021. She is a rising senior at the University of Arkansas studying psychology, philosophy and legal studies. On campus, she serves as the treasurer for the CORD Student Staff Advisory Board. Upon graduation, Masheyat plans to attend law school.
