Free service to improve living conditions for homeowners and private tenants

Thurrock residents can access free help and advice on how to improve their home, health, wellbeing and finances.

As part of the Well Homes Benefit and Energy Advice Project, homeowners and private tenants are invited to monthly drop-in sessions in Ockendon, Tilbury and Corringham.

The drop-in sessions include advice on how to save money on heating and electricity by making their homes more energy efficient, maximizing their income by checking they are in receipt of all entitled benefits and help with repairing homeowners' homes.

Private tenants can also get additional support on how to deal with their landlord if they are having health and safety issues.

Councillor Mark Hooper, Cabinet member for Health and Well-being said:

"We want to make sure that every resident in Thurrock has access to information and support on how to improve their home, wellbeing and finances.

"This service will go a long way in helping to ensure we can improve the quality of life for residents in the borough and help to save money on their gas and electricity bills while staying warm this winter."

Three monthly drop-in sessions are provided each month:

  • Ockendon Family Hub, 2A Afton Dr, South Ockendon, RM15 5PA - 10am till 12pm, every 1st Tuesday of the month

  • Tilbury Family Hub, Anchor Field, London Rd, Tilbury, RM18 8EY - 9.30am till 11.30am, every 2nd Thursday of the month
