Chairman Steil Demands Transparency from Agencies on Bidenbucks

WASHINGTON - Committee on House Administration Chairman Bryan Steil (WI-01) is demanding transparency from five Biden Administration Secretaries who have refused to share Executive Order 14019 strategic plans to the Committee as previously requested, particularly as previous Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests show the agencies implementation plans. Chairman Steil released the following statement upon sending the letters.

"The Biden-Harris Administration continues trying to hide their strategic plan to use federal taxpayer dollars for partisan, get-out-the-vote activities. We know these agencies have developed and begun implementing get out the vote efforts, yet they continue to defy our subpoena request.The American people deserve answers for how this Executive Order is being implemented. I will continue working to get these strategic plans."

Each of the following agencies have shared only public information, attempting to dodge providing information Chairman Steil previously subpoenaed. The agencies have previously shared documents pursuant to FOIA requests. The follow-up letters demand the Department of Labor, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Justice, and Department of Agriculture share the Executive Order strategic plans as previously requested. The Committee is continuing to work with the additional ten agencies subpoenaed.

Background:

On June 13, 2024, Chairman Steil subpoenaed fifteen cabinet secretaries for information related to 'Bidenbucks.' The Committee on House Administration began an investigation into this Executive Order shortly after it was announced. Chairman Steil first requested documents related to the cabinet secretaries work related to E.O. 14019 on May 15, 2024 and, to date, has not received any materials, outside of public information, in return.
