Take the BEAD Consumer Challenge for internet access equity

NAPA COUNTY - To increase access to high-speed internet, Napa County residents and business owners are encouraged to take the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Consumer Challenge to ensure available federal funding goes to where it is needed most. The U.S. Department of Commerce and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) have started the BEAD Grant Program with $2 billion to bring high-speed internet to areas in California that don't yet have access.

Data from the challenge will be used to update Federal Communications Commission maps to determine what areas and projects are eligible for funding through the BEAD program. By making the broadband map accurate, you can help Napa County qualify for BEAD funding, which means better internet service for you and your neighbors.

To take the BEAD Consumer Challenge:

  1. Visit the CPUC's BEAD Consumer Challenge Page at CPUC BEAD Consumer Challenge.
  2. Read the User Guide to learn how to submit your information.
  3. Have a copy of your most recent internet or cable bill ready.
  4. Click "Submit Consumer Challenge" at the bottom of the page and provide information about your internet service.

For assistance with the survey, please email [email protected]. The deadline to take the challenge is August 3.
