Early Morning Fatal Crash On 684

On November 12, 2024, the New York State Police began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate 684 in the town of Bedford.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., Howard I. Zaibel, age 54, of Brewster, NY, operating a 2021 Kia Sportage southbound on I-684, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a 1995 International Harvester tractor trailer parked south of the Bedford rest area.

Zaible was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
