Congressman Cohen Announces $1.2 Million in Grants to UTHSC

MEMPHIS - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will receive two grants from tow National Institutes of Health totaling $1,213,557. The first, for $754,446, is from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for research on the microbiome. The second, for $459,111, is from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, for research on a "Novel Pharmacological Approach to Stroke Neuroprotection."

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I am always pleased to see our National Institutes of Health investing in life-saving research at our medical school. This funding will lead to important insights and help future doctors address illness."
