Sign, Barrier Installation Planned at Night Next Week on I-95 in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that sign and barrier construction is planned at night next week on Interstate 95 in Philadelphia. A section of Tacony Street will also close for I-95 bridge construction.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Monday, November 11, and Tuesday, November 12, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the eastbound I-676 ramp to southbound I-95 will be closed and a left lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the I-676 and Columbus Boulevard interchanges for sign and barrier installation. During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed to continue on I-676 east, exit at 6th Street/Ben Franklin Bridge, east on Race Street, and south on Columbus Boulevard to the southbound I-95 on-ramp at Water Street.
  • Wednesday, November 13, and Thursday, November 14, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from Columbus Boulevard to northbound I-95 will be closed and a left lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 between the Columbus Boulevard and I-676 interchanges for barrier installation. During the ramp closure, motorists will be directed north on Columbus Boulevard to the northbound I-95 on-ramp at Summer Street.
  • Wednesday, November 13, and Thursday, November 14, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a left lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between Market Street and the I-76 interchange for sign installation.
  • Saturday, November 9, and Saturday, November 16, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Tacony Street will be closed between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street for overhead bridge construction. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Harbison Avenue and Bridge Street.

The lane and ramp closures are part of PennDOT's $329 million I-95 Central Access Philadelphia (CAP) Project that will replace and extend the cap over I-95 and Columbus Boulevard between Walnut and Chestnut streets.

The Tacony Street closure is part of PennDOT's $270 million I-95/BS2 project that will reconstruct I-95 in both directions from Margaret Street to Carver Street.
