NJIT Nationally Recognized for Serving Students Connected to the Military

New Jersey Institute of Technology has earned national recognition for how it serves students connected to the military, be they active members or veterans.

NJIT is featured in G.I. Jobs' list of 2024-25 Military Friendly Schools, earning a silver distinction. More than 1,800 schools participated in the survey, with only 537 making the list for going above and beyond. G.I. Jobs considers performance from the survey, along with data available from state and federal agencies, and focuses on institutions' ability to meet thresholds in: student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence and loan default rates.

In its entry on NJIT, the publication notes that the university is an "excellent choice for members of the military due to its designation as a STEM institution" and because it's "positioned to draw upon the experience and expertise of members of the military."

The entry adds that students have access to a "diversity of resources that enable internships, jobs and community service opportunities" and "experience remarkable success." In particular, G.I. Jobs cites The New York Times identifying NJIT as the top school nationally for student upward mobility and Forbes ranking NJIT #1 among their Best Value Colleges for student economic upward mobility.

Some 185 service members and veterans are pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees at NJIT today, with the most popular majors for the undergraduates are mechanical engineering, information technology and computer science, while the top picks for graduate studies are cyber security and privacy, the MBA program, civil engineering and computer science.
