Frederick Boulevard and Leonard Road signal improvements begin next week

St. JOSEPH, Mo. - Signal improvements at the Route 6 (Frederick Boulevard) and Leonard Road intersection in St. Joseph are scheduled to begin next Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Missouri Department of Transportation has permitted Capital Electric Construction Company, working with QuikTrip, to complete the improvements as part of the project for their new convenience store located on Frederick Boulevard at Interstate 29 Exit 47.

The improvements will replace the signal cabinet, update electronics, replace signs and add flashing yellow arrows for left turning traffic from Frederick Boulevard to Leonard Road. The upgraded equipment will allow MoDOT to coordinate signal timing at the intersection to help traffic on Frederick Boulevard flow efficiently between Leonard Road and I-29, and to/from connecting streets and business entrances.

Work is scheduled to take place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 22. During this time, the signals will be turned off and temporary stop signs will direct traffic to treat the intersection as a four-way stop. Motorists should expect delays.

All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
