The cooperation between the Faculty of Transport of the CTU in Prague and the Secondary Industrial School of Transport in Motol is in full swing

In the presence of representatives from CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences (CTU FD), the management of the Secondary Industrial School of Transport (SPŠD) and representatives of the Prague City Transport Company (DPP), a plaque of Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the CTU in Prague will be unveiled on the building of the secondary school, thus highlighting the significant cooperation between the two institutions.

After the unveiling of the plaque on the SPŠD building in Motol, the programme will continue with a visit to the Welding School, which is several tram stops away from the school building. Here, students from the team of Faculty of Transportation Sciences, Department of Vehicles, will also be present to present the Green Gliders ultra-efficient vehicle project. It is the only team in the country to participate in the Shell Eco-marathon competition, which aims to build an ultra-efficient vehicle of the Prototype category with electric drive from scratch. The cooperation between CTU FD and SPŠD will be implemented, for example, by using the workshop facilities in Prague 5, sharing various knowledge and involving high school students in this project.

"On the basis of the agreement on the granting of the title of Faculty School of Faculty of Transportation Sciences of the CTU in Prague, we try to participate together in projects that have significant potential for both institutions. We do not want the cooperation to be just a mere signing of a contract, but to continuously develop and deepen", explains PaedDr. Lenka Kubešová Zápotocká from the PR team of CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences.

The cooperation between the two institutions started on 12 June 2024 on the occasion of the Student Projects Fair at SPŠD in Motol, where the signing of the contract on the Faculty School of Transportation of the CTU FD took place. This contract was signed in style, in the carriage of tram T3R.P number 8466.

At the beginning of the 2024/25 school year, the students of the final year of the SPŠD in Motol also had a unique opportunity to meet with prominent personalities from the world of transport and education. Professor Ing. Ondřej Přibyl, Ph.D., Dean of the faculty, together with the school's director Ing. Lukáš Sobotka welcomed the future graduates in the school building. During the meeting, they not only encouraged the students on their way to graduation, but also introduced them to the possibilities of continuing their studies at the CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences.

Another joint event in the framework of cooperation between the SPŠD and CTU FD was a ride on a special tram line "Tour de FD" on 18 September 2024. This event was organised by the eFDrive student club of the faculty for incoming university students in their first year. The aim was to orient them around the buildings of the faculty, visiting the so-called Transport Triangle Konvikt - Horská - Florenc. A special tram line with a unique SPŠD sticker ran between the buildings. This tram was operated by the deputy director of SPŠD Ing. Vladimír Pušman, PhD., who works both at the high school and at CTU FD. In addition to university students, students from SPŠD also rode in the tram. The intention was for the high school students to get to know the environment and buildings of the CTU before entering the university.

Another interesting topic for further cooperation in the future is the possibility of linking professional teaching, including the establishment of a professional laboratory where practitioners, teachers and academics could meet together.
