Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Sept. 26-27 in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Slippery Rock University's council of trustees will meet Dec. 5-6, in the Russell Wright Alumni House and Conference Center. Committee meetings are scheduled for both days. The quarterly business meeting is at 11 a.m., Dec. 6. For those who wish to attend the meetings but are unable to do so in person, a Zoom option is available with advanced registration. All meetings are open to the public.

Scheduled committee meetings include:

  • Academic and Student Affairs, 3:30-4:15 p.m., Dec. 5.
  • Governance, 4:15-5:15 p.m., Dec. 5.
  • Finance and Administrative Affairs, 8:30-9:15 a.m., Dec. 6.
  • University Advancement, 9:15-10:45 a.m.

The agenda for the Academic and Student Affairs Committee includes presentations from the following administrators from their respective areas:

  • Michael Zieg, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
  • Michael May, vice president for enrollment management.
  • David Wilmes, vice president for student affairs.

The agenda for the Governance Committee includes:

  • A review of the council's bylaws.
  • A discussion about aligning committees to four pillars established in the University's strategic plan.
  • Update about the informal evaluation of President Karen Riley.
  • The agenda for the Finance and Administrative Affairs Committee includes:
  • The Annual Security Report and Clery Act Report by Chief Kevin Sharkey, chief of the University Police.
  • A financial review of fiscal year 2024-25 by Carrie Birckbichler, vice president for finance and administration.

Information items regarding audit communication documents for fiscal year 2023-24, contracts, purchases, financial reports, facilities and planning projects, human resources personnel items and a divisional report.

The agenda for the University Advancement Committee includes presentations from the following administrators and representatives from their respective areas:

  • Troy Miller, vice president for university advancement.
  • Don Huddart, '87, secretary of the Slippery Rock University Alumni Association.
  • Dave Hollenbaugh, executive director of the SRU Foundation, Inc., with Mark Palmer, chair, SRU Foundation Board of Directors, providing the foundation's quarterly report.

At the quarterly business meeting, the council will hear the President's Report, receive reports from its standing committees, and review contracts, active projects for facilities and planning, human resources personnel items, budget/finance updates and divisional reports, the 2024 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, and results of audit for fiscal year 2023-24 by CliftonLarsonAllen.

There will be presentations by Julia Williamson, from the SRU-SGA Child Care Center, and Amy Orville, assistant professor of curriculum, instruction and educational leadership, about the partnership between the College of Education and the SRU-SGA Child Care Center. There will also be commendations for the SRU women's cross country team and three SRU varsity athletes: Jennifer Cichra, Anna Igims and Brayden Long.

Scheduled action items include:

  • Vote on a resolution for the affiliated entities certification of compliance.
  • Vote on a representative from the trustees to the Slippery Rock Student Government Association's executive board.
