Remains of Missing Fisherman Located

The decedent has been positively identified as:

Jeremy James Wyatt, a 50-year-old male from Antioch, CA.

CR24-199 WYATT, Jeremy - Missing Person Located

On Saturday, August 10, 2024, at approximately 1553 hours, an unidentified subject was located lifelessly floating in the waters near the Sonoma/Marin County border of the Petaluma River by Marin County Fire Department personnel, who were actively searching for a missing person. The subject was reported missing on 08/06/2024, by a manager at his workplace, after he failed to show up to work on 08/05/2024 and 08/06/2024. On Thursday, 08/08/2024, the U.S. Coast Guard was actively looking for the subject in the San Pablo Pay when they located an aluminum boat capsized on the Northwest side of the San Pablo Bay, which was confirmed to be registered to the subject. The subject was believed to have been fishing at the time of his disappearance. Multiple First Responder agencies including the Marin County Sheriff's Office, Marin County Sheriff's Search and Rescue, Marin County Sheriff's Air Patrol, Marin County Fire Department Water Rescue Team, California Highway Patrol, Marin County Sheriff's Marine Patrol, Sonoma County Sheriff's Air Patrol, Alameda County Sheriff's Dive Team, and the U.S. Coast Guard were dispatched to search for and recover the subject. The subject was ultimately recovered in the waters near the Sonoma/Marin County border of the Petaluma River and brought to the nearby shoreline, where his death was pronounced on 08/10/2024 at 1623 hours with no resuscitative measures warranted due to obvious signs of death.

A forensic postmortem examination with routine toxicology has been completed. The cause and manner of death will be pending the conclusion of the investigations being completed by the Marin County Sheriff's Office and the Marin County Sheriff's Office - Coroner Division. No further information will be released by the Coroner Division at this time, as this is an active and ongoing investigation. Any further questions regarding the incident should be directed to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
