ASH media classes learn about broadcasting opportunities at NSU

NSU Journalism and Media Day is Nov. 8

NATCHITOCHES - About 50 students at Alexandria Senior High School joined David Antilley, director of Northwestern State University TV and ESPN+ student coordinator, as he spoke to two full class sections about the NSU's Department of New Media, Journalism, and Communication Arts and the ESPN+ production.

Antilley demonstrated the workings of equipment that is used in and out of the ESPN+ trailer and details involved with an ESPN+ production. He also discussed opportunities for students to work with the NSU yearbook, newspaper and radio station.

"NSU is all about hands-on learning and as a freshman you can get involved in many areas that will teach you the that will lead to successful careers," Antilley told the students. He invited them to visit campus and join the student team in working cameras at basketball or baseball games broadcast on ESPN+.

Antilley has more upcoming school visits planned at Jena High School, Grant High School, Montgomery and Glenmore High School.

Students interested in learning more about NSU's Department of New Media, Journalism and Communication Arts are invited to attend Journalism and Media Day from 8 a.m.-noon Friday, Nov. 8 where they can meet with students and faculty, explore career paths, tour the NSU-TV Studio, KNWD Radio and media labs and learn about scholarship opportunities.
