On July 19th, 2024 a combined effort involving multiple specialty units within SPD and the assistance of SCSO resulted in the arrest of a male suspect in regard to a shooting incident that took place last month in the area of Holy Names Court.

The incident started in a parking lot near Holy Names Court in North Spokane when an altercation took place amongst several people in a parked vehicle. A male who was a passenger in the vehicle exited the car and produced a firearm, firing several shots into the parked/occupied vehicle. One of the occupants was struck by the gunfire. The vehicle left the location to go to a nearby hospital when the car was stopped by law enforcement. SPD quickly responded to the incident and the tireless efforts by officers and detectives led to the information identifying the suspect.

On July 19th, SPD received information on a possible location of the shooting suspect and multiple specialty units responded in an attempt to locate and arrest the male. A vehicle containing the male was located in the area of Northwest Boulevard and Alberta Street. The vehicle was safely stopped and the suspect in the shooting was taken into custody without incident.

The male (17) was charged with 3 counts of 1st Degree Assault with a Firearm and one count of 1st Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and is currently being held at the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center.
