'Early bird special' highlights animal licensing drive

It's that time to license your dog/cat with the City of Taylor Animal Shelter for 2025. Remember it is not only the law but the are many other benefits such as:

  1. Public Health and Safety: Licensing ensures that pets are vaccinated against diseases like rabies, which protects both pets and humans from serious diseases
  2. Identification and Recovery: A license number tied to the owner's contact information to help reunite a lost pet with their families.
  3. Accountability and Control: Licensing promotes responsible pet ownership, as it helps animal control track animals in a community, manage population control and enforce laws related to pet care.
  4. Revenue for the Animal Shelter: Fees collected go to help support the animals at the shelter, control programs and animal welfare initiatives, which benefit the broader community.

Early Bird Special: From November 1 to December 31 the animal shelter is taking $2 of the license fee for sterilized pets only. The senior rate of $5 will be reduced to $3 and the non-senior rate will be reduced from $10 to $8. The shelter does offer microchipping to help aid with identification and recovery of your lost pet for a low cost of $25.
