Dollar General Celebrates Scottsville Distribution Center's 65th Anniversary

Company Celebrates with Senior Leadership and Cal Turner, Jr; Recognizes Long-Tenured Employees and Awards $60,000 to Local Schools and Nonprofit



Last week, Dollar General celebrated the 65th anniversary of its Scottsville, Kentucky distribution center alongside the Company's senior leadership team and Cal Turner, Jr. As part of the festivities, employees enjoyed a complimentary lunch and legacy employees who have been employed by Dollar General for more than 20 years were recognized. Additionally, the Company extended its mission of Serving Others by surprising Allen County Schools and Community Action of Southern Kentucky with $30,000 each to support their efforts in the Scottsville community.

Dollar General's Scottsville distribution center opened in 1959 and currently employs approximately 700 individuals through its distribution center and Private Fleet presence.

"Today's celebration of Scottsville's 65th anniversary was made even more special with attendance from our Company's current and past leadership," said Rod West, Dollar General's executive vice president of global supply chain. "Since 1959, our Scottsville team has lived out our mission to serve, making a meaningful impact to our customers and communities through their critical role to ensure products are delivered to DG stores. We appreciate our entire Scottsville team and are proud to recognize our longstanding employees' tenured service to Dollar General, as well as support Allen County Schools and Community Action of Southern Kentucky. We appreciate the entire Scottsville team for their continued support of our mission ofServing Others and look forward to extending our presence as a good corporate neighbor and longtime member of the community."

Recognizing Legacy Employees

Anniversary celebrations included recognizing employees who have been employed in Scottsville for more than 20 years, alongside fellow employees who have been with the Company for more than 30 years. In total, approximately 60 employees from the Scottsville facility were recognized, and nearly 20 employees from the store support center in Goodlettsville, Tennessee received honors.

Community Engagement

As part of the distribution center's anniversary celebration, the Company surprised Allen County Schools and Community Action of Southern Kentucky with $30,000 each to help nourish its hometowns, whether through literacy and education or providing nutritious foods to those in need.

"Scottsville holds a special place for us at Dollar General, and we are so excited to help celebrate Scottsville's 65-year milestone by supporting our community's growth, "said Denine Torr, Dollar General's vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. "With today's surprise donations, we hope to further enhance Allen County Schools' literacy programs and enrich the lives of our Scottsville neighbors through the Community Action of Southern Kentucky."

Superintendent Travis Hamby and Chief Academic Officer Melissa Biggerstaf from Allen County Schools and Senior Services Center Manager Pamela Simmons and Head Start Center Manager Cara Ellinger from Community Action of Southern Kentucky received the donation for each of their organizations.
