Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced the appointment of Elizabeth Whitsitt as a member of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) for a 5-year term.

Today, the Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, announced the appointment of Elizabeth Whitsitt as a member of the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) for a 5-year term.

Quick facts

  • The CITT is an independent, quasi-judicial adjudicative body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance.

  • The CITT supports the government's objective of a fair and secure Canadian marketplace by providing Canadian and international businesses with access to fair, transparent, and timely adjudication of trade and tariff matters.

  • The CITT conducts inquiries into dumping, subsidy, and procurement complaints; hears appeals of decisions by the Canada Border Services Agency and the Canada Revenue Agency; conducts safeguard inquiries; and provides advice to the government and/or to the Minister of Finance on economic, trade, and tariff issues.
