Military Vehicle and Aviation Movement Advisory Around O'ahu Island

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawai'i (October 4, 2024) - An increase in movement of military vehicles, airplanes, and helicopters are expected to occur at Wheeler Army Airfield, Schofield Barracks, Kahuku Training Area, Dillingham Airfield and Lualualei areas from October 7-10, 2024, as part of the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Center (JPMRC) Rotation 25-01.

Starting this weekend, anticipate increase movement to occur during the day from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and at nighttime from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Nearby communities may experience longer commute routes along Kamehameha Road HI-99 Southbound, Kamehameha Road HI-99 Northbound to Haleiwa, Kamehameha Highway HI-83 to Kahuku Northbound, Kamehameha Highway HI-83 Southbound.

The timeframes and dates are subject to change based on weather and other environmental factors. Airplanes and helicopters are expected to fly throughout day and nighttime hours. The neighborhoods surrounding the Wheeler Army Airfield and Kawaihapai Dillingham Airfield areas can expect to hear an increase of takeoff and landing activities.

The Army will do everything possible to minimize the impact on the local community, including adjust flight patterns, and adjusting times, while still maintaining their training requirements. Mahalo again for your patience and support.

Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations from military aircraft flights. Should individuals hear noise associated with the training activities, there is no immediate danger.
