The fleet of zero-emissions electric buses that will renew public transport in south Santiago was presented today.

The new machines will operate on 13 services, benefiting more than 280,000 people on a weekly basis.

According to Transport Minister Juan Carlos MuƱoz, the buses will renew the fleet of the Voy Santiago company. The vehicles, made by the Chinese firm Yutong, will replace the last of the orange diesel models that mainly circulated in the area.

The main communities that will benefit from the replacement are San Bernardo, El Bosque, La Cisterna and La Pintana. The aim is to improve the travel experience of users with modern buses that significantly reduce noise pollution.

Characteristics of the new fleet of electric buses

The 214 new buses are zero-emission, and have security cameras, Wi-Fi, USB chargers, air conditioning and better accessibility for users with disabilities. They are nine and 12 meters long, with an estimated capacity for 90 passengers.

With this renewal, 100% of the Voy Santiago fleet now operates under the RED standard. Their old orange buses will be used only as a reserve in case of contingencies.
