NOPD Announces Preliminary Crime Statistics for November 3-9, 2024

The following is a weekly report of citywide crime statistics compiled by the NOPD Analytics Unit for the period of November 3-9, 2024.

Notable arrests made

During the listed week, the NOPD also made the following notable arrest(s):

  • On November 6, members of the NOPD's Violent Offender Warrant Squad and the U.S. Marshals arrested Michael Brooks (black male, DOB: 12-12-1982) in the investigation of an incident that occurred on August 6 at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Lasalle Street. Brooks was located and arrested in the 6000 block Baronne Street and subsequently booked for aggravated battery by shooting and for home invasion.
  • On November 8, the NOPD arrested Diamond Ebbs (black female, DOB: N/A) in St. Tammany Parish in connection with a homicide that occurred on October 21 in the 4700 block of Bonita Drive. Ebbs was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to Orleans Parish to face one count of second-degree murder.

Gun arrests (arrests made under LA RS 14:95 and sub-items)

Year to date, the NOPD has made 371 arrests for illegal possession of a firearm. This is a 43-percent compared to 653 arrests made during the same period in 2023.

Gun seizures

Additionally, as of November 4, the NOPD in 2024 had seized 1,888 firearms in criminal investigations, a 21-percent compared to 2,043 such seizures made during the same period in 2023.
