Friday, July 5 5 p.m.: Update from National Weather Service call

The following is our interpretation of the latest update from a 5 p.m. call with the National Weather Service and area emergency managers.

There remains uncertainty in the forecast of this storm, but as of now it is tracking for a Corpus Christi landfall. From there, the path is uncertain as to where the storm continues. This is why it will be important to continue to monitor trusted sources for weather at www.weather.gov/houston

We are anticipating the highest tide in Galveston to occur on Monday morning. Right now, the tide is predicted at approximately 4', which is less than the high tide during Tropical Storm Alberto. Currently, we are looking at 3-6" of rain, but again these forecasts may change. Wind is less of a concern at this point.

As of now, it appears the worst window of weather will be Monday into Tuesday evening.

The next weather update will be later tonight at 11 p.m.
