SGMC Health Recognizes Hartsfield with BEE Award

SGMC Health honored Emedita "Amy" Hartsfield, Health Unit Coordinator on 5 West, with the July Being Extraordinary Every day (BEE) Award. Hartsfield was honored for her display of kindness and ability to connect with her patient.

A nurse nominated Hartsfield because she went above and beyond on multiple occasions to assist a long-stay, non-English speaking patient who was experiencing additional communication difficulties due to his illness. Not only did Hartsfield assist interpretive services with his dialect, but she also brought him food that resonated with his culture to provide a level of familiarity and comfort during his stay.

The BEE Award is presented monthly and recognizes staff members who support the role of a nurse, which includes patient care technicians, nursing assistants, and medical assistants. Nomination criteria include compassion, teamwork, leadership, attitude, and skills and knowledge.

SGMC Health participates in an array of recognition programs to honor employees who most exemplify the tagline, "Remarkable People, Extraordinary Care, Human Kindness." To learn more, visit sgmc.org/recognition.
