The Government of Spain forms a crisis committee to monitor the effects of the DANA (High-level Isolated Depression) weather phenomenon

The crisis committee chaired by the First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Treasury, María Jesús Montero, during its first meeting at Moncloa Palace

Tonight, the Government of Spain has set up a crisis committee to monitor the effects of the DANA on the Mediterranean coast and Albacete, with the aim of coordinating the response and assistance work for this phenomenon. This body held its first meeting in the offices of the Department of National Security at Moncloa Palace, chaired by the First Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Treasury, María Jesús Montero, and attended by the Minister for the Presidency, Justice and Parliamentary Relations, Félix Bolaños; the Minister for Defence, Margarita Robles, and the Minister for Home Affairs, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

The Third Vice-President of the Government of Spain and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera, and the government delegate in Valencia, Pilar Bernabé, also took part in this first meeting.

The crisis committee has contacted the presidents of Valencia, Castilla-La Mancha, Murcia and Andalusia, as well as the Government delegates in these territories. The committee has made available all the necessary troops from the UME, Policia National, Civil Protection and Guardia Civil. The crisis committee will remain in permanent session to analyse the situation until the DANA subsides. As of tomorrow, the committee will be chaired by the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, once he returns from his official trip to India.
