Investigation into Fatal Crash at 23100 Eastex Freeway

September 19, 2024- Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 23100 Eastex Freeway (North U.S. highway 59) service road about 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday (September 18).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and D. Jones reported:

A bicyclist was traveling southbound on the service road near the above address and, as he changed lanes, he was struck from behind by a red Nissan Rogue. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.

The female driver, 74, of the Nissan remained at the scene. She was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released. .

The investigation remains ongoing.
