Rep. Estes Comments on Quivira National Wildlife Refuge
Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released the following statement after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife's announcement that it will not make a request for water to the State of Kansas for Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in 2025.
"Today the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service alerted Kansas that it doesn't intend to request water administration for Quivira National Wildlife Refuge in 2025," said Rep. Estes. "This is a positive step in the ongoing challenge of preventing the federal government from restricting water usage for rural Kansans, and it also demonstrates that Kansas farmers and ranchers are best suited to preserve our land and resources."
Since entering Congress, Rep. Estes has met with numerous stakeholders and engaged the Department of the Interior, Department of Agriculture and directly with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on this issue.
