Readout of the Inaugural U.S.-India Cancer Dialogue

Last June, during the India State Visit, President Biden and Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed their dedication to end cancer as we know it. This week marked a significant step forward in that partnership and global cancer care with the inaugural U.S.-India Cancer Dialogue in New Delhi, India. The Biden Cancer Moonshot and the Government of India convened representatives across countries and sectors including: cancer survivors, advocates, academia, the private sector, and government officials, symbolizing a deepened partnership and determination to solve some of the most complex challenges that cancer poses.

The dialogue covered a range of critical topics, each representing a key pillar in the ongoing effort to tackle cancer. Experts addressed the spectrum of cancer care and research, from artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and novel therapeutics to clinical trials, survivorship care, and complementary and alternative medicines. The dialogue represented an elevation of the longstanding partnership between our two countries in health care, building on a solid foundation of mutual understanding and shared goals.

Major areas of focus for the U.S.-India collaboration include:

• Harnessing AI for Cancer Care.
• Advancements in Novel Therapeutics and Precision Medicine.
• Addressing Disparities with Equitable Cancer Therapies and Inclusive Clinical Trials.
• Supporting Survivorship Care.
• Integrating Complementary and Alternative Medicines.

Assistant to the President for Science and Technology and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Arati Prabhakar, Director of the National Cancer Institute Dr. Kimryn Rathmell, and U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti delivered remarks.
