Hogan Lovells' Marion Palmer named most Innovative practitioner at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Awards 2024

London, Friday 13 September 2024 - Marion Palmer, Global Head of Sustainability, Policy and Strategy, has been named Most Innovative Practitioner in The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Europe 2024 standing out in the category for the impact of her pioneering role in aligning scientific knowhow with the practice of law.

Additionally, the firm ranked 10th overall in the FT Innovative Lawyers Europe list featuring heavily in the report, released today. Other categories the firm was also recognised in included:

  • 'Standout' - Innovation in dispute resolution - for our work successfully defending London Metal Exchange against traders who sued it over a decision to cancel billions of dollars' worth of nickel traders
  • 'Highly commended' - innovation in talent management- for our partnership with Flair Impact, a racial equity technology company on a mission to create a world where all ethnicities can thrive. The team worked closely with FLAIR to create a bespoke survey and data analysis that would produce useable, understandable, and actionable results.
  • 'Highly commended' - innovation in regulatory solutions- for our 'Regulatory Pilot tool,' initially designed for BMW, to monitor regulatory changes affecting the auto sector. Now used more widely, it's results have exceeded expectations, providing reliable, timely information from every relevant jurisdiction, showing an instant return on the AI capabilities of the bot and rapidly refining the information it gathers to create high value reports for clients.
  • 'Commended'- innovation in pro bono - for our "Defending Democracy" initiative strengthening the Right to Free and Fair Elections (Article 3 Protocol 1 of the ECHR). This programme recognises promotion of the rule of law by providing pro bono advice to enable participation of under-represented groups.
  • 'Commended'- innovation in Generative AI tools- for ELTEMATE CRAIG.
