Tennessee Deploys Resources to Florida Ahead of Tropical System

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) deployed the Type I Swiftwater component of Tennessee Task Force 2 (TNTF2) and a Type IV EMAC A-Team to Florida ahead of Potential Tropical Cyclone Four, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall and cause significant flooding throughout the state.

The Type I Swiftwater Rescue Team, comprised of personnel representing Nashville Fire Department, Williamson County Emergency Management Agency, and Franklin Fire Department, will serve an 11-day mission. The credentialed Swiftwater Team will assist with search and rescue operations and other emergency response.

The Type IV EMAC A-Team, comprised of TEMA personnel, will serve in a critical response support role at the Florida's State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee.

"Tennessee has answered Florida's call for aid as they prepare for what Potential Tropical Cyclone Four could bring," said TEMA Director Patrick C. Sheehan. "I'm proud that our firefighters and emergency management professionals will again be available to help where there is the most need."

TEMA is coordinating Tennessee's deployments through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), the nation's state-to-state mutual aid system. EMAC enables a swift and efficient response to disasters by facilitating the efficient sharing of resources, personnel, and expertise.
