During the 16th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity held in Cali, Colombia, President Vahagn Khachaturyan had meetings with the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, the President of Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, the President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, the President of the Transitional Presidential Council of Haiti, Edgar Leblanc Filis, and senior heads of delegations.
During the discussions, issues related to ways and opportunities to address the challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss were raised. There was an exchange of views regarding various global and regional challenges, security issues, climate, and the prospects for forming a unified agenda to overcome these challenges.
The senior heads of the participating delegations emphasized the need to consolidate efforts among all countries regarding environmental issues in the context of current changes, the rapid development of information technologies, and the presence of climate and anthropogenic disasters.
A reference was made to the principles of protecting fundamental human and civil rights, and the development of effective mechanisms and theoretical foundations that ensure the sustainable development of democracy in the context of current realities.
