Arroyo Grande Police Department Hosting Citizen Radar and Traffic Enforcement Forum

ARROYO GRANDE, CALIFORNIA - Have you ever wondered how speed limits are determined in California, how police radar/LIDAR works, or wanted to test your ability to accurately guess how fast cars are actually driving?
Join the Arroyo Grande Police Department on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 4 PM to 6PM for a "crash course" in speed enforcement laws and procedures.
We'll go through a hands-on exercise showing you how to use an actual police radar device. The group will then take a brief walk to a nearby street where participants can test one another's ability to visually estimate the speed of passing vehicles.
This will also present an opportunity to ask the Traffic Unit any traffic-related questions or voice concerns.
The course is free, limited to 25 attendees.
Attendee Requirements.
• No more than two attendees per household.
• This is an in-person live event, not available for remote participation.
• Ages 16+
• Students under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
