Pavement Patching Project on Interstates in Mercer and Venango Counties to Start This Week

09/30/2024

A $3.2 million project to repair portions of Interstate 79 and Route 80 in the northwest region pf Pennsylvania is scheduled to start on October 2, 2024.

The project will include 26 miles of Interstate 79 in both northbound and southbound directions in Mercer County, and 27 miles of Interstate 80 in both eastbound and westbound directions in Mercer and Venango counties. Work will be done on sections on the interstate as needed and will include milling and paving, concrete patching, and new pavement markings. Minor repairs will also be done on eight bridges.

Construction is expected to begin October 2, 2024, weather permitting, and to be completed by August 22, 2025.

Lane restrictions will be needed to complete work. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker of State College, PA. The contract cost is $3,198,198, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.

This year PennDOT's Northwest Region expects to do work on more than 100 projects. To see a full listing of all the anticipated work, check out the 2024 Construction Book located under the Resources tab online at www.penndot.pa.gov/District1.
