ACCGov Closing for Non-Emergency Staff on Fri., Sept. 27

Due to expected weather impacts of Hurricane Helene, general office operations of ACCGov and workstations will close for non-emergency personnel on Fri., Sept. 27. All offices, departments, and buildings - including City Hall, the Courthouse, the Satula Avenue Building, the Dougherty Street Government Building and other facilities - will be closed to the public during this time.

Updates to the following specific department services are also in effect:

  • Leisure Services - All programs, parks and facilities are closed on Fri., Sept. 27.
  • Solid Waste - Night collections in the Central Business District will be suspended after 10:00 PM on Thurs., Sept. 26. Trash and recycling collection services for commercial curbside, front end loader, and roll-off containers will be determined on the morning of Fri., Sept. 27. Residential collections do not take place on Fridays.
  • Transit - Bus service is currently scheduled to continue as normal unless worsening conditions prevent safe travel. Due to UGA class cancellations, Route 12 will run the 'non-UGA' schedule, operating every 55 minutes on Thurs., Sept. 26 and Fri., Sept. 27.
  • Courts - The Courthouse is closed on Fri., Sept. 27. Filings may still be made remotely with the Clerks of the Courts through the following websites:
    • Superior Court:
    • Juvenile Court: All after-hours procedures involving CHINS, delinquency, and DFACS matters shall remain in full force and effect.
    • For emergency matters that require court involvement, or for the need to speak to a court official on an emergency basis, please call the Athens-Clarke County Clerk of Court, Elisa Zarate, at 762-400-6497 or the Athens-Clarke County Sheriff's Department, Courthouse Division, at 706-613-3250.
    • All court deadlines falling on Fri., Sept. 27, 2024, are hereby suspended, tolled, or extended until Mon., Sept. 30, 2024.
