Doctoral student Paula Winiarski to deliver 2024 graduate Commencement address

Paula Winiarski, a doctoral graduate in nursing, has been selected as the 2024 graduate student Commencement speaker.

A three-time Marquette graduate, Winiarski worked as a nurse in the intensive care unit at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic while simultaneously completing her degree.

Winiarski is a former Miss Wisconsin and was in the top 12 at the Miss America competition. She plans to continue at Marquette as a part-time faculty member.

Marquette's 143rd Commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, May 11, at Fiserv Forum, located at 1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave., Milwaukee. The undergraduate ceremony will be at 1 p.m.; the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management ceremony will be later that day at 5 p.m. The School of Dentistry, Law School and College of Health Sciences' professional programs will hold separate ceremonies and will not be part of the Fiserv Forum ceremonies.

Guest tickets are required for entry into the 2024 undergraduate Commencement ceremony; all guests will need to provide a digital ticket.
