Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ann Wagner (R-MO) released the following statement after the House passed the Federal Judiciary Stabilization Act:
"The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri has had a temporary judgeship for decades, and this judgeship was set to expire in 2025. It is only right to finally convert it to permanent status and provide a measure of certainty to our region. I was pleased to champion this bipartisan legislation and lead this effort to convert numerous temporary judgeships around the country, including in our very own Eastern District of Missouri, to permanent status. Caseloads at District Courts have continued to rise, and it would not serve the cause of justice to allow these judgeships to expire and further burden the system. This legislation will ensure our Eastern District of Missouri Court can better protect our communities and ensure criminals are brought to justice in a timely manner."
