RIDGEWOOD VILLAGE PFAS REMOVAL

September 27th, 2024 NJWB

NJ I-Bank and NJDEP Helping to Improve New Jersey's Infrastructure, One Project at a Time

Ridgewood Village recently closed on a $9,199,899 loan with the NJ Water install new raw water mains to convey water supply from the Village wells to a centralized treatment facility for the removal of per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These chemicals are commonly used in a wide range of industrial processes and are found in many consumer products where they can penetrate the water supply and affect drinking water quality.

The East Ridgewood and West End PFAS Treatment Facilities will be constructed with a new raw water main to transmit water from an existing treatment facility to the West End PFAS treatment facility to consolidate the wells in a centralized treatment facility. The components of the treatment will consist of granular activated carbon treatment vessels and media. This project will remove PFAS contaminants from the water to comply with the new Safe Drinking Water Standards.
