COLUMBUS - State Rep. Anita Somani (D-Dublin) joined many Ohio House Democrats this week to announce they are co-sponsoring a House resolution expressing the support of the Issue 1 citizen-led ballot initiative to end partisan gerrymandering in Ohio.

"For too long, partisan gerrymandering has created a Statehouse that does not reflect the will of the voters. Ohio is one of the most gerrymandered states in the nation; this is unacceptable. Issue 1 will take politicians out of the redistricting process, " said Rep. Somani.

The resolution notes that supporting the initiative, which is Issue 1, would eliminate partisan gerrymandering by placing the redistricting process in the hands of Ohio citizens rather than politicians and paid lobbyists. It further notes that supporting the initiative would also establish the Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission (OCRC), ensuring a fair and transparent process that reflects the diverse voices and communities of our state.
