Costa Rica, hand in hand with CABEI, concludes the execution of works for a comprehensive road infrastructure program to improve the quality of life of Costa Ricans

San José, October 28, 2024.- The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) celebrates the culmination of an extensive road infrastructure financing program in Costa Rica, which improves the quality of life of more than 40,000 daily users of the main roads in San José.

Through the construction and improvement of eight important road works, the US$430.5 million program has significantly reduced travel times for people and merchandise, as well as improved road safety with efficient and modern works such as the following: the old and new "Saprissa" bridge, the Lindora bridge, and the Alfredo González Flores bridge known as the "platina", as well as the roundabouts with overpasses at the Garantías Sociales in Zapote, La Bandera in San Pedro, and Bicentenario in Guadalupe, works that in turn join with the Circunvalación Norte, also financed by CABEI, which allows drivers to travel from La Uruca to Zapote in less than ten minutes, transforming the mobility dynamics in the capital.

CABEI Executive President Gisela Sánchez emphasized, "Each infrastructure program we conclude in our member countries represents another step towards tangibly improving people's quality of life. We are proud to see the benefits that these works generate for Costa Ricans, providing them with faster and safer transportation, while at the same time contributing to the country's economic growth by optimizing the time and costs associated with transportation. We are firmly committed to sustainable development in the region, and these projects are a clear example of that."

With these interventions, CABEI reaffirms its commitment to Costa Rica's and the Central American region's social and economic development and will continue to promote infrastructure projects that will enable it to remain the region's positive transformation engine.
