MNPD Sergeant Michael Dixon has been decommissioned (relieved of police authority) as the result of his arrest during the night for DUI.
Dixon was off-duty and in his personal pickup truck early today when he pulled into a stranger's driveway on Old Hickory Boulevard near Dickerson Pike and walked to the porch. The resident yelled at him to leave and called police. Responding officers found Dixon in his pickup truck in the driveway. It was obvious he had been drinking and was impaired. He was transported to General Hospital for a blood draw before being taken to booking.
Dixon, 50, is a 26-year veteran of the police department who was assigned to the Specialized Investigations Division. The MNPD's Office of Professional Accountability will be conducting an administrative investigation into this morning's events.
