September 2024 APA Board Meeting Preliminary Agenda


RAY BROOK, NY - The Adirondack Park Agency (APA) will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, September 12th, 2024. The meeting will be held at the Agency's headquarters in Ray Brook, NY. The public is welcome to attend in person or remotely.

Public comment will be available to members of the public who attend the Agency meeting in person as well as those who participate remotely. If you would like the opportunity to make a public comment remotely, please email your name and the phone number used to call into the Board Meeting to [email protected]. Those who sign up for public comment will be limited to three minutes each. Public comment will not be accepted on any agenda items that are before the Board.

On Thursday at 9:30 a.m., the Full Agency will convene for Executive Director Barbara Rice's monthly report, public comment, and other procedural actions.

At 10:00 a.m., the State Land Committee will hear a summary of public comments received regarding proposed amendments to the 2016 Cranberry Lake Campground UMP from Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and APA staff. Agency staff will then share a recommendation for conformance with the State Land Master Plan and seek board approval for the amendment.

Then, the board will be briefed on the 2024 package of proposed amendments to the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan. Agency staff will seek authorization to initiate coordinated review under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and proceed with public hearings and a public comment period.

At 1:00 p.m., the Park Policy and Planning Committee will convene for an informational presentation from the Hudson River Black River Regulating District about their authority and projects, and how their work intersects with the Agency's jurisdiction.

At 2:00 p.m., the Park Ecology committee will hear a presentation from SUNY ESF about the history of natural resource decision-making in the Adirondack Park.

At 2:45 p.m., the Full Agency will convene to take any necessary actions.

On Friday, September 13th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. the Agency will visit the SUNY ESF Newcomb Campus. University faculty and staff will build upon their presentation to the Board by conducting site visits to further demonstrate the university's forest management and educational programming and the results to the ecology. The site visit will conclude by 2:00 p.m.

The site visit is open to the public. The meeting location is the Adirondack Interpretive Center (5922 State Route 28N, Newcomb, NY 12852). Space is limited and advanced RSVPs are required to attend.
