Bridge maintenance work moves to eastbound Loop 289 frontage road

LUBBOCK -Repairs on the eastbound Loop 289 bridge, at I-27, have been completed. Contractor Ti-Zak Concrete, Inc., is scheduled to remove barricades, reopen all lanes and shift work onto the eastbound frontage road bridge at I-27 on Friday, July 19; weather permitting.

The removal of the barricades will require the eastbound Loop main lanes to be closed to all traffic during the operation.

Bridge maintenance and repairs are scheduled to begin on the eastbound south Loop 289 frontage road bridge over I-27 starting Friday. The work will require the southbound I-27 frontage road cloverleaf ramp to be closed to traffic and drivers detoured to 82nd Street, then northbound on the I-27 frontage road to connect with eastbound Loop 289. Bridge lane closures are also planned.

Motorists can expect various lane closures on the eastbound frontage road bridge, should anticipate traffic delays and are urged to slow down and use caution when driving through the work zones, since crews will be working in close proximity to traffic.

Several Loop 289 and I-27 bridges are part of the $1.9 million project to replace bridge joints and bearing pads, make concrete repairs and upgrade the guardrail fencing on the bridge structures. Work on all bridges is scheduled to be completed in late-2025. Work will take place weather permitting.
