Lions fans: Register to vote at the game starting this Saturday, Aug. 24

Detroit Lions will host Secretary of State mobile office at Ford Field on game days through Oct. 27

DETROIT, Mich. - This Saturday, Aug. 24, the Secretary of State mobile office will be on site at Ford Field to register voters and provide nonpartisan election information as the Detroit Lions take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in preseason football. The team will host the mobile office in Pride Plaza before every home game now through the #NFLVotes game on Oct. 27 against the Tennessee Titans.

"I'm grateful to the Detroit Lions for hosting our mobile office during games at Ford Field and for their ongoing partnership in supporting secure, fair elections," said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. "As they kick off another incredible season, every Lions fan can be proud of this team for their grit on the field and their dedication to helping every Michigan citizen exercise their right to vote."

Fans at the games will be able to register to vote or update their address at the Secretary of State mobile office. The mobile office will register voters at Pride Plaza before the following games and events:

  • Saturday, Aug. 24 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (preseason),10 a.m. until 1 p.m. kickoff
  • Sunday, Sept. 8 vs. LA Rams, 5:20 p.m. until 8:20 p.m. kickoff
  • Sunday, Sept. 15 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. kickoff
  • Monday, Sept. 30 vs. Seattle Seahawks, 5:15 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. kickoff
  • Sunday, Oct. 27 vs. Tennessee Titans (#NFLVotes game) 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. kickoff

This voter registration opportunity is the latest piece of a four-year voter education and engagement partnership between the Michigan Department of State and the Detroit Lions. In July, Secretary Benson and the mobile office attended Lions Training Camp to register voters and inform them of their options to participate in this year's elections.

The Detroit Lions have been an active partner in providing nonpartisan voter engagement and education since August 2020. The Lions were the first NFL team in the country to dedicate their arena, staff, and other resources to support our elections in conjunction with RISE to Vote and #NFLVotes.

Michigan citizens can register to vote or update their registration online at Michigan.gov/Vote.
