Negative Declaration

Chautauqua County - The Westfield Academy and Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Westfield Academy and Central School District Capital Improvements Project, 2024 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the Westfield Academy and Central School District (District) to undertake a Capital Improvements Project, 2024 which includes various renovations and improvements at the District's school and campus.

Proposed building improvements include renovations to Elementary School classrooms including new sinks and cabinets; renovations to locker rooms including showers, flooring, wall tile, ceilings, lockers, and lighting; cooling in music classrooms; new corridor lockers; new wall tile in various locations including corridors and possibly stairwell upgrades; and mechanical upgrades to existing elevators. Safety and security enhancements may include door hold-open devices at interior corridor fire doors and tie into fire alarm and lockdown systems; upgraded select exterior and select interior doors and hardware and glass entranceway windows; security film at first floor doors and cafeteria windows; and exterior emergency lighting.

Proposed site work includes improvements to the athletic facility area including a new track with rubber/urethane surface, upgraded grass athletic field inside the track with improved drainage and field lighting, field event areas, bleachers with ADA accessibility and press box, public address system, scoreboard, walkways, and concession stand with restrooms and storage. Other proposed site work includes reconstruction of the playground with rubberized play surface and new equipment, small expansion of the parking area behind the school near the athletic facilities, and reconstruction of existing pavement at the north and east side of the building.

The project is located at 203 East Main Street in the Town of Westfield, New York.
