NOPD Identifies Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Dana "Dante" Dorceus (pictured, black male, DOB: 04-02-1985) in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on July 23, 2024, in the 2400 block of Dryades Street.

At about 1:40 a.m., NOPD Sixth District police responded to a call of a shooting in the 2400 block of Dryades Street. Upon arrival, they found a known male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via New Orleans EMS to a local hospital, where he later declared deceased.

On July 25, the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office identified the victim as 41-year-old Tony Jones, and determined cause of death to be from gunshot-related injury.

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Section detectives developed and positively identified Dorceus as the perpetrator in this incident. He is wanted on one count of second-degree murder.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
