Six candidates invited to further interviews in the recruitment process for vice rectors of the University of Turku

During September, Rector Marjo Kaartinen will appoint the vice rectors of the University of Turku for the five-year term starting on 1 January 2025.

The University of Turku is currently in the process of selecting its vice rectors. The role of the vice rectors, appointed for a five-year term, is to support the Rector in the leadership and development of the University of Turku. The term of office of the vice rectors will start on 1 January 2025.

Rector Marjo Kaartinen has decided to invite the following candidates to the next phase of interviews:

  • Vice Rector Piia Björn, PhD, University of Turku
  • Professor Klaus Elenius, MD, University of Turku
  • Professor Jarna Heinonen, DSc (Econ), University of Turku
  • Professor Maija Peltola, PhD, University of Turku
  • Professor Tapio Salakoski, PhD, University of Turku
  • Professor Piia Seppänen, EdD, University of Turku.

The vice rectors' duties will consist of areas of responsibility in education, research, and societal interaction and impact.

The Rector will decide on the vice rectors during September, and the University will announce the appointments. The five-year terms of the current three vice rectors will end at the end of 2024.
