Augmentir’s Augie Update Brings GenAI To The Frontline Worker

Augmentir's Augie Update Brings GenAI To The Frontline Worker

On September 24, 2024, connected worker platform provider Augmentir released new updates to Augie, the firm's virtual assistant, introducing new GenAI elements. Augmentir first introduced GenAI capabilities in early 2023, leveraging the OpenAI API within its connected worker platform. Discussing the update, Russ Fadel, CEO of Augmentir, noted: "Just as we have seen GenAI deliver transformational value to the consumer and enterprise, the Augie Suite provides the tools to enable companies to empower their frontline workers, regardless of experience, to perform with higher levels of safety and productivity." The provider has always emphasized its use of AI within its product, touting its Smart AI foundation to tailor user experiences.

With the new update, Augmentir introduces a variety of new features. These encompass the automatic conversion of work instructions from typical non-digital formats, such as PDFs and spreadsheets, into Augmentir digital work instructions accessible on mobile, tablets and AR glasses. GenAI's advanced NLP (natural language processing) is more adept at interpreting forms, expediting the importation of existing work instructions.

The update also features the Augie Data Assistant, which introduces a conversational interface through which users can ask questions and generate graphical reports. We have seen conversational interfaces introduced by a handful of firms in the industrial technology space, such as ServiceNow's integration of Microsoft Copilot within its Now platform and Honeywell's Experion Operations Assistant - while in the EHS software space, Benchmark Gensuite has introduced its Genny AI tool.

In our 2023 operational excellence global corporate survey, 84% of respondents reported that GenAI will impact their operations in 2024 and 2025. Verdantix anticipates that this number will have risen in 2024, in line with releases from Augmentir and other firms in the industrial tech space.
