9-11 Remembrance Ceremony

Please join with us to remember the victims of the attacks of September, 11, 2001.

A brief, respectful remembrance ceremony will be held at each city firehouse on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 starting at 950 a.m. (Group 1 is on duty).

Wednesday September 11, 2024, marks the 23rd anniversary of the attacks on the United States. The Cambridge Fire Department has evolved since those attacks, into a more modern, balanced emergency response organization, thanks to the dedication of all our members, and a supportive city administration.

Everyone is invited to join with firefighters to participate in the ceremony at your neighborhood firehouse. For those not working or not available to participate on September 11, 2024, please take a moment to remember all of the sacrifices made on that day and since then.

The ceremony for September 11, 2024, is as follows:

0950 hours (950 a.m.):

  • Open all overhead doors at all firehouses.
  • On Duty personnel in Class B uniform (Red Polo Uniform Shirt)with assembled guests will line up in front of apparatus bay doors.

0955 hours (955 a.m.):

  • ECD (Emergency Communications Department) will transmit Special Signal 5-5-5-5.
  • ECD will read a brief announcement.
  • All members and guests will observe a one-minute moment of silence

At the end of 1 minute, ECD will say thank you.

The senior Fire Officer/Firefighter present shall lead those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The ceremony will conclude.
