Getting Out the Union Vote: Rank and File Members Mobilizing Ahead of Election Day

Hundreds of affiliates joined the LA Fed for the GOTV Canvass and BBQ to support 'Yes on A' and our COPE-endorsed candidates.

Local Union leaders David Green of SEIU 721 and Ernesto Medrano of the LA/OC Building Trades, candidates Ysabel Jurado, Mark Gonzalez, and Congressman Jimmy Gomez, as well as elected officials LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Councilman Hugo Soto Martinez, all joined LA Fed President Yvonne Wheeler. They rallied with union members, emphasizing the importance of this election.

"Ballots are now in everybody's mailboxes. We must vote today because tomorrow is not promised," said President Wheeler.

Union members from across LA County have been mobilizing. To date, rank-and-file union members have completed 126 volunteer shifts, and over 44,000 calls have been made to fellow union members across LA County.
