Repatriation of remains complete for Mexican nationals who died in Mississippi bus crash

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that all remains have been repatriated for the seven Mexican nationals who lost their lives in a bus crash on August 31 along I-20 East in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The accident also left 21 Mexicans injured. The last repatriation of remains took place on September 28.

Throughout this process, the Mexican Consulate in New Orleans and the Directorate General for Consular Protection and Strategic Planning provided comprehensive assistance and guidance to the victims and their families.

The consulate has maintained ongoing communication and has monitored the actions taken by the authorities and the bus company. It has also connected affected individuals with lawyers from the Legal Advisory Program to provide timely and reliable information about their rights.

Moving forward, consular efforts will focus on following up on the investigation into the accident's causes, overseeing proceedings with the bus company's insurance company, and exploring potential legal avenues in the case.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mourns the loss of the seven Mexican nationals. Through its consulate in New Orleans and the Directorate General for Consular Protection and Strategic Planning, the Ministry will continue to provide all support and assistance requested by the individuals involved.
