At Home with Merle Burleigh – July 31, 2024

MERLE'S CORNER

Summer is quickly passing. The days are getting shorter/ the early morning chirping of the birds is closer to 5 a.m.; it was 4 a.m. Back to school sales are prevalent. Fall decor and some Halloween decor, is on the shelves. West Chicago Community High School starts August. 14. August does not have a major national holiday. However, there are daily national celebrations such as Homemade Pie Day, Ice Cream Sandwich Day, S'mores Day and Creamsicle Day. Of course, one of the best is National Just Because Day Tuesday, Aug. 27. On this day, we are encouraged to break free from the confines of routine and do something extraordinary, just because we can. I wonder if each of us will do this or do the daily routine. Even without a major holiday, there are quite a few local events to enjoy in August.
