Permit Application for Off-Road Travel and Weather Station Adjacent to Pogo Mine Access Road - LAS 35182

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: North Star (Pogo) LLC

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35182

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The proposed land use permit is located on the south side Shaw Creek Road/Pogo Mine Access Road near MP 18, approximately 20 miles north of Delta Junction.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Fairbanks Meridian, Township 7 South, Range 10 East, Sections 1-2 and 11-12

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: North Star (Pogo) LLC has applied for a land use permit on state land for off-road travel with an excavator and/or drill rig to conduct geotechnical sampling at 12-15 locations, as well as the installation of a weather station for metrological observation. The proposed activity is expected to start in late summer/fall of 2024.

REQUESTED TERM: 5 Years

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: August 7, 2024

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
